These terms govern your use of Obsession (obsession.run), operated by Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc.
By creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You must be 13 or older to use Obsession. You may not create accounts for others without their consent.
You own your activity data. By using Obsession, you grant Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc. a limited license to store and display your data to power the service. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc. operates obsession.run as a technology platform. DRL is not an event organizer, club operator, or event sponsor. Clubs, events, and activities hosted on the platform are organized and managed by independent club administrators. DRL does not supervise, control, or direct any club activities or events. Users participate at their own risk.
Users may create, join, and participate in clubs and events on the platform. Club administrators are responsible for the safety, organization, and conduct of their events. By joining a club or RSVPing to an event, you agree to abide by that club's rules and any applicable waivers. DRL is not responsible for the actions, omissions, or negligence of club administrators or other participants.
Running and outdoor activities involve inherent risks including but not limited to: injury, illness, property damage, and death. By participating in any club event on Obsession, you acknowledge these risks and agree to any waivers presented during RSVP or event registration. Waivers are between you and the club/event organizer — DRL facilitates the signing process but is not a party to the waiver agreement. Electronic signatures (typed name + timestamp + IP address) are legally binding under the ESIGN Act and UETA.
You may provide emergency contact information for use during club events. This information is shared only with event organizers for safety purposes. You represent that you have consent from your emergency contact to share their information.
Some clubs and events may charge fees via Stripe. Payments are processed by Stripe and transferred directly to the club's connected Stripe account. DRL collects a platform fee on paid transactions. Refund policies are set by individual clubs/event organizers. DRL is not responsible for disputes between you and a club regarding refunds. For payment issues, contact the club administrator first, then DRL support.
Club descriptions, event details, waiver text, and other content created by club administrators is user-generated content. DRL does not review or endorse this content. Club administrators are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of their content, including waiver language.
When you connect Strava, you authorize Obsession to import your activity history and automatically sync new activities going forward. Your connection remains active until you disconnect from Settings or revoke access through strava.com/settings/apps. Obsession's use of Strava data complies with Strava's API agreement.
Obsession integrates with third-party platforms including Strava, Garmin Connect, and COROS. When you connect a third-party account, you authorize Obsession to access data from that platform subject to your consent. Each platform's data practices are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. You may disconnect any integration at any time from your account settings.
If you opt in to SMS streak reminders, you consent to receive up to one automated text message per day from Obsession at the phone number you provide. Messages are sent via Twilio. Message frequency: max 1 msg/day. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message, disabling SMS in Settings > Notifications, or removing your phone number. Reply HELP for support. Obsession SMS is provided by Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc.
You agree not to: attempt to access other users' private data, reverse engineer the platform, use the service to distribute spam or malicious content, or use automated tools to scrape data.
Obsession is provided as-is. We make no guarantees of uptime or data preservation, though we take reasonable measures to protect your data. We may modify or discontinue the service with reasonable notice.
Dead Reckoning Labs, Inc. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Obsession, including but not limited to: injuries sustained during club events or activities, disputes between club members or administrators, payment disputes with clubs, loss of data, or service interruptions. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to DRL in the 12 months preceding the claim. This limitation applies to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We may update these terms. We'll notify you by email for material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
